Instructions/Processes
Prior to Semester
Decide whether to use an existing Google Draw template
or
Develop a template specifically for your concept map:
Open Google Drive
Choose New → More → Drawing
Name the drawing: File → Rename
Draw the concept map with all its content, labels and relationships
This is an example of a concept map for your students
Make a copy of the original: File → Make a copy → Enter a new document name → Press → OK
Open the copied drawing and decide what level of scaffolding students will need. You could for instance choose to:
remove or delete all labels and descriptions
leave descriptions/definitions but remove key terms
remove all relationship lines and arrows
remove key labels or relationships
drag labels to columns each side of the map
jumble the labels around on the document
Make sure to write a simple instruction on the map
Make sure the two concept maps are in your Google drive
Return to the Google Template site (refer to Resources/Technology) to add your drawing either to the RMIT or Public Templates
On the top right hand side of your screen, click “Submit a template” to fill in the form and add your drawing to the respective template repository
HOWEVER, if you do not wish to add your drawing to the respective templates; you can share the drawings with students in your Google Drive
Post the URL in the course materials or use Blackboard Learn to send an announcement with the link to the students
