Steelbrace - Fixing

The steelbrace only works in tension, therefore it is applied in X or V patterns across the roof planes. The steelbrace is nailed through its holes to the members it passes over. This ties and assists the restraint provided by roof battens.

Diagram showing steelbrace bent to side of top plate and under plate and fixed with two nails to side and three nails under top plate. Nails should not be closer than 10 mm to the edge of the timber. Diagram showing steelbrace on a roof truss. Bracing angle between 30 and 45 degrees to the top plate when viewed on plan.
