Prior to Semester

1. Identify course objectives, current and known activities and resources

2. Identify concepts that students struggle with

3. Ask your Liaison Librarian to help you source accessible OER to enhance student learning experiences

At the beginning of the Semester

4. Provide clear guidelines and expectations to students on assigned resources and activities, since the OER interfaced may be unfamiliar to them

5. Explain to students about the importance of OER

6. Explain to students that some educational videos display different practices from those adopted in Australia

7. Use this opportunity to both demonstrate globalisation in the curriculum and as a learning activity in which students may be asked to contextualise the material to Australia

8. Explain how to optimise searching in the OER via RMIT Library or invite your Liaison Librarian to demonstrate the features of OER. Consider creating your own OER and contributing to the OER community. Check Creative Commons (refer to Resources/Technology)

EXTENSION

9. Add an OER support page to your online course site

10. Encourage students to use it for self-study and to obtain concept explanations in numerous ways

11. Ask students to source an OER video

12. Ask students to explain the concept verbally or in written form

13. Ask students to assess how well the video is applicable to the Australian, Vietnam or Singapore context and describe changes needed to suite local context
