{"id":1615,"date":"2020-06-26T14:51:54","date_gmt":"2020-06-26T04:51:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emedia.rmit.edu.au\/oedvedesign\/?p=1615"},"modified":"2020-06-30T12:16:01","modified_gmt":"2020-06-30T02:16:01","slug":"turning-the-kaleidoscope-online-with-impact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emedia.rmit.edu.au\/oedvedesign\/index.php\/2020\/turning-the-kaleidoscope-online-with-impact\/","title":{"rendered":"Turning the Kaleidoscope &#8211; Online with Impact"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"intro-content\">Last week saw\u00a0the VE Design Team present a\u00a0variety of\u00a0sessions\u00a0at\u00a0RMIT\u2019s Internal Vocational School of Design and Social Context\u00a0Learning and Teaching conference <a title=\"Links to the conference website\" href=\"https:\/\/sway.office.com\/HHTBdorPvYEUNBJ8\">Turning the Kaleidoscope<\/a>\u00a0which explored\u00a0the notion of flexible and applied ways of learning in Vocational Education.<\/p>\n<p>Our presentation \u2018Online with impact\u2019 showcased an approach to developing a course from scratch using templates already available within the institution.\u00a0A straw poll at the start of the session indicated only 30% of participants had used\u00a0Canvas Commons, a template and content repository for sharing and distributing content within the Canvas Ecosystem. A helpful insight, this showed there was a need to connect VE staff with a system that contains prebuilt resources that will save them time in developing learning experiences.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid\" src=\"https:\/\/emedia.rmit.edu.au\/oedvedesign\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Online-with-impact-the-prefilled-course-showcasing-a-variety-of-interactive-digital-experiences-available-to-Canvas-authors.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of Canvas Commons\" width=\"700\" height=\"480\" \/> <span class=\"small float-right\"> Online with impact, the prefilled course showcasing a variety of interactive digital experiences available to RMIT Canvas authors<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The workshop stepped through searching and downloading a\u00a0prepopulated\u00a0course from Canvas Commons \u2013 one\u00a0which contained a collection of examples\u00a0and\u00a0types of content backed up with a pedagogical or engagement focus.
