It was expected that students would attend classes\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to receive instructions on when to use the learning materials listed.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Since flexible delivery, teachers have come to recognise how\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Canvas can\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">broaden the type of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">learning<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0materials<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0they use and reference<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">all\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">housed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">one location\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">easy to share with their colleagues and students.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Not limited to PowerPoint slides<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">PDF or Word documents, teachers can\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">embed audio\/video files and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">post\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">link<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to websites, podcast series, books and articles<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, micro-credentials, and extensive library resources<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Lectures<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0lab<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and tutorial demonstrations can be recorded<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and narration added to slide presentations for students to view and review on their own time.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">While the amount and range in information sources\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">that can be included can be exciting and engaging, it can also be overwhelming, underscoring the importance of contextualisation and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">instruction when presenting materials.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Better\u00a0<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">feedback<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0for learning activities<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Adapting\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in-class activities to the online environment has been challenging but a lot of teachers have embraced the change and tackled the problem\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in many innovative ways. Some of these successes have bee<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">n posted on the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rmit.edu.au\/staff\/teaching-supporting-students\/ve-essentials\/flexible-delivery-of-ve-programs\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Flexible Delivery site<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, showcasing how Canvas, Collaborate Ultra, and Google Drive<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0have been used in learning activities and assessments\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">great effect.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Learning activities are non-assessed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0but\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">form<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">an integral part\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0the student journey as they allow student<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">practice and test<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0t<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">heir developing knowledge and skills<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. For this to be useful, students require feedback to ensure that they\u2019re on the right track. Building learning activities<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">direc<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">tly into Canvas accommodates this need.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Teachers can type in feedback for correct and incorrect\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">quiz\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">answers<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, moderate discussion<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0forums,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and post suggested responses for reflect-and-reveal activities.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Not only can\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">students receive more immediate feedback<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, but it can also be more targeted.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">For practical activities where teachers want to see the students\u2019 step-by-step process in solving a problem or creating an artefact, having students submit<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0digital evidence (e.g., video or image series) in Canvas\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">gives teachers a more wholesome picture of each student\u2019s work.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Instead of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">having to divide their attention between students in a\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">full\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">class or studio setting,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">teachers can more closely see each student\u2019s workflow and identify areas where\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">greater support may be needed.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">There is also increased opportunities for students to work together and give peer feedback.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Meeting up over Collaborate Ultra or Microsoft Teams for g<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">roup\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">learning\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">activities may be easier<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0for students to organise.
