Participating effectively in online discussions

Discussion boards are platforms on which you can communicate asynchronously* with your peers and tutors during an online course. The purpose of a discussion board is to provide you with the opportunity to exchange ideas, share content, and ask questions. Discussion boards are also used for giving and receiving feedback.

Who should complete these tutorials?

These tutorials will help you feel more prepared to write effective posts and interact asynchronously online, if:

  • you have not studied online before
  • you are returning to study after a long time
  • you are worried about studying online
  • you are curious about how online study at university might differ from how you have studied online before.
