The College of Design and Social Context (DSC)
The College of Design and Social Context incorporates the fields of art, communication, design, education, humanities, property and social sciences.
DSC is comprised of eight Schools that service these disciplines.
The College has a vibrant research community attracting funding from a range of government and industry sources with close to four hundred students enrolled in research degrees.
It also offers a number of nationally and internationally recognised research centres together with The AFI Research Collection and Frances Burke Textile Resource Centre.
School of Media and Communication
The School of Media and Communication consists of a cluster of vocationally oriented programs and research, focused on the practical application of communication techniques both visual and verbal. The School is committed to the provision of cutting edge education.
The programs offered range from Certificate IV in TAFE to Ph.D studies. The gathering together of these disciplines gives opportunity for students to work across a number of areas within Multi Major Degrees. Opportunities for moving from TAFE programs into the Degree programs exist within the school and are a reflection of the close links between the program areas. Likewise, degree students can take courses from within the Diploma programs particularly when high-level technical skills are required. In essence the school has a flexibility of programmatic offerings that enables students to experience a broad range of Communication courses.
