Numerical methods

Use these measurement worksheets to improve your skills in these areas.

  • NM1 Newton’s method

Some equations cannot be solved using algebra or other mathematical techniques. In this case we need to use numerical methods. Newton’s method is one such method and allows us to calculate the solution of f(x)=0.

  • NM2 Simpson’s rule

Some integrals cannot be evaluated in terms of the rules of integration or elementary functions. Simpson’s rule is a numerical method that calculates a numerical value for a definite integral.

  • NM3 The trapezoidal rule

The trapezoidal rule is a numerical method that calculates a numerical value for a definite integral. Some integrals cannot be evaluated in terms of the rules of integration or elementary functions.

  • NM4 Bisection method

    A worked solution.

  • NM5 Euler's method

    A worked solution.

  • NM6 Runge-Kutta method

    A worked solution.
